The Council of the European Union wants to introduce new rules on tire labeling with regard to parameters such as energy efficiency, wet grip and noise.
The proposed new rules aim to make labels more visible and give consumers more information when choosing new tires for their cars, thus allowing them to choose safer, more fuel efficient and quieter tyres.
The new labels will also have icons relating to grip on snow and ice and their graphics will be clearer for consumers.
These new rules will have a major impact on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, but the regulation has yet to be formally adopted by the European Parliament.
