OM Mediation
The Medical Association is committed to improving its support mechanisms for doctors, both professionally and personally.
The solutions that have been implemented aim, among other objectives, to promote greater humanization in the relationship between the Medical Association and the professionals it represents and between them and patients.
With the aim of being a proactive and useful partner, we present the project OM Mediation.
Through the partnership established with the Arbitration Center of the Autonomous University of Lisbon (CAUAL), the Order of Doctors is implementing the innovative project OM Mediation – mediation and arbitration, which provides alternative methods of resolving disagreements and conflicts: mediation, conciliation, negotiation
and arbitration.
These methods are less bureaucratic and formal, aiming to reduce long and undesirable disciplinary processes, contributing to greater humanization of the entire process.
The confidential and simplified nature of the process is a significant advantage.
Doctors can use this service in a wide range of situations (professional and personal), from commercial, consumer, neighborhood, family or school conflicts, to conflicts with patients and others, without involving disciplinary councils or courts.
All labor and professional conflicts are included, except those of a criminal nature, which fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the State.
Patients will also benefit from this service, because, as the parties join the service of their own free will, the solutions found are widely accepted and reflect everyone's involvement in defining the solution to be implemented, in a much more humanized process with low financial cost, in which everyone wins and feels validated by the cooperative environment in which relationships between people are transformed and improved, promoting, by resolving conflict, increased well-being and, consequently, social peace”.
