As of today, consumers will be able to use contactless technology to make in-person payments up to 50 euros, up from the current 20 euros. It will only be necessary to bring the card closer to the payment terminal and the PIN will not be required.
With contactless technology, the card does not leave your hand and it is not necessary to enter the personal code in the terminal. Until now, this system only allowed payments up to a maximum amount of 20 euros.
