Number 2424 was assigned by ANACOM – Autoridade Nacional de Comunicações to the Ministry of Health for, during the period of implementation of the national vaccination plan against COVID-19:
•Send short messages (SMS) to the population as part of the implementation of the national vaccination plan against COVID-19
•Send paperless recipes
• Schedule appointments
The SPMS – Serviços Partilhados do Ministério da Saúde entity must guarantee the implementation of the service so that it is accessed by all citizens, always in the same way, on all national (mobile) networks, regardless of the network on which the communication originates, which is free for the end user.
The option for the number 2424, by that entity, took into account the fact that it allows users to confidently identify the origin of the information sent, given the familiarity with the line number SNS 24 – 808 24 24 24.
