Adhesion of Bank Credit Intermediary Entities

Adesão de Entidades intermediárias de crédito bancário

Decree-Law no. 81-C/2017 of 7 July, in paragraph 2 of its article 70, requires credit intermediaries to adhere to at least two arbitration centres.
This Arbitration Center has already had many adhesions, from North to South of the country, within the scope of the aforementioned legislation imposed by the Bank of Portugal on bank credit intermediaries.
There are numerous advantages in joining this Arbitration Center, so we leave below all the necessary information about CAUAL, our scope of action, as well as the entire joining process.
Membership of the Arbitration Center of the Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa by legal entities that act as bank credit intermediaries has an annual cost of € 60.00 (sixty euros) that must be paid at the time of joining.
We inform you that CAUAL is an arbitration center with generic competence and of national scope, being able to host any legally arbitrable dispute, in addition to consumer disputes. It is therefore much broader in relation to the disputes it receives.
So, conflicts neighborhood, commercial (contracts and others), family (regulation and change of parental responsibilities, divorces, inheritances), work, in the context of “health”, are also included in the service we provide, in addition to what is required of you by Banco de Portugal.
Mediation and conciliation are included in the service to be provided to employees of member organizations. Although these conflicts are outside the scope of consumption, CAUAL maintains the tables in force for this type of conflict, providing the service for absolutely symbolic values.
We remind you that the extrajudicial resolution of conflicts is a faster, less costly way and where the parties find a greater degree of satisfaction.
CAUAL's conflict mediators are all certified by the Ministry of Justice, granting executive force to the agreements signed by them, thus dispensing with any other type of approval.
